ANGIN Advisory’s joint research with PRI on responsible investment for the EV value chain between China & Indonesia has been published.

The joint research by ANGIN Advisory with PRI, titled “Policy Briefing: Catalysing Policy Reform to Enable Investor Support for an Economy-Wide Transition in China and Southeast Asia” has now been published. The research is the final version of the study presented at ANGIN Advisory’s workshop in July, held in collaboration with PRI, and the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas and the UN-PRI workshop conducted in Beijing in August.

The research focuses on the electric vehicle (EV) value chain between China and Indonesia, given its importance for both climate goals and economic development. However, many of the findings extend beyond the EV value chain, as the integration of real-world sustainability and economic outcomes into investor decision-making is a common underlying theme across sustainability issues.

This briefing is informed by the high-level framework for a sustainable and just economic transition outlined in our report Investing for the economic transition: The case for whole-of-government policy reform. Thus, the research focused on the policy landscape and market practices to understand existing frameworks. Stakeholder engagements, including interviews and workshops with PRI signatories, policy makers, companies, and broader subject matter experts, provided valuable insights that furthered our understanding of perceived opportunities. Thus, this briefing will support our ongoing engagements with key stakeholders and contribute to efforts advancing a sustainable and just economic transition in China and Indonesia.

Acknowledgement for ANGIN Advisory in the report about EV Value Chain between China & Indonesia

ANGIN Advisory participated in the creation of this Policy Brief through INTRA (Impact Investment and Entrepreneurship Knowledge Generator) as our knowledge generator wing. At INTRA, we conducted data collecting by consulting multiple key players, extrapolated the data to gain insightful results on the needs of energy transition in Indonesia, as well as connected key stakeholders of both China and Indonesia for a more efficient discussion on local policies that support energy transitions in Indonesia. It was an expansive and insightful process, where we can utilize our knowledge and network of experts to add valuable observations to the report. We thank all of our partners and stakeholders who we’ve invited and participated in the creation of this report with us.

This briefing aims to support institutional investors, policy makers, and broader stakeholders by providing insights into how policy can improve the role of responsible investment in the just transition to a sustainable economy in China and Indonesia. Correspondingly, through this policy brief, we aim to show that Indonesia’s just economic transition is achievable through the right policies, ones that support a sustainable, non-extractive, and transparent energy transition plan between Indonesia and China.

We are committed to fostering continued collaboration and would be delighted to invite you to future ANGIN Advisory events and collaboration opportunities that align with our shared goals.
